Can someone post pictures of a FireFly and Super Pastel next to each other. If you were to breed a Pastel to a FireFly would you be able to tell the difference between a Super Pastel and a FireFly? How?

You wouldn't have to be able to tell the difference-there is no chance of producing a super pastel from a fire X pastel mating!

Why is a Super Pastel not possible???
Think of a pastel as being "het" for super pastel. Therefore, you must mate that "het" to either another het (a pastel) or the morph itself (a super pastel) in order to get a super pastel.
If you mate a pastel (the "het for super"
to a Fire (which does not carry any pastel genes) then you of course will not have any chance of getting the homozygous form, the super pastel.

He said pastel x firefly. There's a possibility of a super from that...
but I have no idea how you would tell. The firefly does look like a super pastel...

No, there is no chance of a super-since the Fire is not any form of pastel. You have to have a pastel on each side of the pairing for a super.

A super Pastel Fire from a Fire Pastel to Pastel pairing is possible.

Since in that pairing you would have pastel on each side of the pairing.

There no way you can produce a super from a Pastel to Fire clutch.
Just think of Pastels as being het Super Pastels and Fires as het black eyed Leucistics.A Firefly is a combination of two visable hets.
That would be like saying you will produce an Albino or a Clown from a 100% het Albino to a 100% het Clown clutch.
Joe.
OK, I asked about a FireFLY (Which is what is being advertised as a pastel fire. OK so lets start again.
How would you tell the difference in a pastel/fire and a super pastel if you paired a pastel/fire with a pastel?
This is what I asked in the first place. My lord!
WOW...LOL (all I could say)... he clearly said a FIREFLY X PASTEL which would make:super pastel fire, pastel fire, super pastel, pastel, fire, and normals.
I dont think the super fire fly has been made yet. Once it is made tho... Id think it would be real hard to tell.
Wow indeed. Here's a BAD picture of my Pastel Fire male (Firefly) with a Super Pastel female. Although they look similar in photos I don't think they look anything alike in person. Pastels and Super Pastels pretty consistently have heavy patterns as well as lots of oranges. The Pastel Fire I produced and the others I have seen have much more of a "banded" look and are basically just yellow and black.
All that said, I think you'd be able to tell them apart in a clutch you produced. In person they do look very different.

So which is on the left and which on the right?
Super Pastel on the left and Pastel Fire on the right.

Thanks for the picture, but I don't know which one is which?

N/P, it was a bit entertaining. I got my answer. Thanks for the pics by the way. Definite difference in the two.
Here's a little more color accurate photo.

call me crazy but from those 2 i like the super pastel better..........
OK... you're crazy.
Some people like low white Pieds, it's all just a matter of personal taste. I've shown my collection to a handful of "non-snake people" and only the Piebald gets more of a reaction than the Firefly. People always say it but the pictures really do them no justice.
One thing is certain though, the Firefly will get better and better as it lightens with age while the Super Pastel will only get more brown over time. We all know babies that look spectacular can turn into less than impressive adults. Unfortunately that awesome baby period only lasts a short time. I know a couple Firefly animals were produced in 2006. There are plenty of Super Pastels out there as well. Hopefully someone will post some adult photos of each.
I still love Super Pastels but I think the Firefly is a better looking animal with better cross potential. We should be seeing some Pastel Fire Spiders and Pastel Fire Pinstripes this year (and hopefully some other new stuff). Crosses are what it's all about.

As you said, the Fire "cleans up" the color and gets better as they get older. They dont brown out. BTW, Your Fire Pastel is Beautiful, congrats!

Here are a few pictures of the first Firefly to be produced. She was produced in 2006 by Brandon Boeke of Priceless Pythons with a Davies line Fireball crossed with a NERD line Pastel.
Here she is at a couple hundred grams...

Here she is next to an adult Lemon Pastel...

These pictures were taken by Brandon at one point or another, I've saved them from extremely old forum posts.

Hey Dave, long time no talkie...any who here is one of my FireFlys.
I think there will be some trouble telling a SuperFly from a super pastel shoud they happen in the same clutch. I thing I'll just have to hand on to them a month or two and see how their collor progresses. If it gets better its a superfly, worse its a super pastel.
Sorry, I can't spell today...
