hey everyone thanks for the help in identifying this new boy!!!! will he need different requirements, such as heat and all that because hes further south than his kansas cuzins? is he a true desert species, or he still in sub desert prarie habitat....im not familiar with new mexico and texas ( im not familiar with oklahoma and kansas either). is this even an issue?? i just cant wait to get that new enclosure, so they all have plenty room and more space to roam and be free!!! well again thanks alot everyone for all the help!!

Guy, didn't Randy C. email you? They might not be the Texas/MN collareds after all.

Anyway, I keep my desert collareds like I do the Easterns. From what I hear, the desert collareds are not seen out during the heat of the day, so the temps would be about the same. All of mine are doing fine following Eve's care sheet.

Well you've got yourself a very cool pair of lizards, my friend!

I'm confused. I may have responded to the wrong pic.
Anyway, as C. bicinctores has a huge range, they are quite variable. I have seen some with bright yellow limbs, and a yellow patch on the top of the head from the eyes forward. At any rate, I can't say for sure based on the picture that I saw. If it has a true black center to it's dewlap, true black inguinal patches, and lacks black pigment inside it's mouth, it sounds more like a bicinctores. If it lacks all of these traits, I would say collaris.

Yes, and then you have the hybrids, the c. bic/ c Bailei, et al! How confusing! I think that's why the studies are ongoing with the western collareds, well, collareds in general.
