Monitor Moodswings

Rizambyyy Jul 17, 2008 10:34 PM

I just have a quick question. I've had my water monitor for a week and he is doing very well. A good eater, and what not but, during the day i can handle him during the day fine, doesn't run away, sits on my shoulder, but at night he has a complete mood change and is very aggressive and he just bit me for the first time.So i was wondering if this was something that other people experience,is there a reason he is having this mood swings or what not. So please anyone with any info please tell me whats up with my monitor thanks

I went through that same stage when I first got into monitors and bought my water monitor. I figured that handleing the animal from the get go was the way to go, in order to get a more relaxed animal. For my ignorance, I got rewarded with biting, and whipping too.

I quickly learned that’s about the worst way you can start with these creatures. I think for now leave him be, feed him and focus on husbandry, and limit that to your interaction for now. You do not want to exacerbate your situation.

Look at that post by Holly. I used most of the information in there with my water, and even my ackies are responding well to it.

Goodluck,
Mike.
