Pastel, Calico & Pastel Calico's----WOW

panhead Jul 17, 2008 10:45 PM

Well I just hatched out this group of babies. I bred a male calico to a pastel. The calico male I have is probably one of the least "calico" looking snakes I have ever seen. I got him in on a trade and was told that he did not look much like a calico but sired some rather nice babies. When I got him I was not really sure he was even a calico. I have no doubts now. It was a seven egg clutch. Three of the babies came out basically looking normal. One is a pastel and one is a definate calico. The other two, holy $&^^!!! These babies are awsome. I can't wait till they start to color up. Enjoy the photos.

WICKED PATTERN on those Bruce. Looks like Pastel Calicos will be as variable as Calicos. Super Calico might be "all over the place" as well. Congrats!!!!!

Those are some awesome looking animals. I'm sure your glad you did not go on what you seen as the trade first went down. I guess you can't judge a book by it's cover. Can't wait to see those after they shed out. Great work.

Those look great Bruce, I never would have guessed that they would combine like that. Makes you wonder what a super pastel/super calico will look like.

Thanks for all the compliments. I showed them to a few people and looked a little closer at them. Actually what I thought was a calico is a pastel calico. So got three pastel calicos. It's just that two of them went to the extreme in the calico dept. The ratio is 2.1 with a pair being the extreme one's. I'll post some better individual pictures after they shed.
Thanks
