Easy Question: spraying dragons

bruce_y Jul 17, 2008 11:51 PM

When people recommend spraying dragons, do they literally mean to use a spray bottle and direct the nozzle at the animal? If so, doesn't this agitate the dragon?

The reason I ask is because I had to spray a very mean tegu to force him to release his bite.

in general what is meant by 'spraying a dragon' is to lightly mist the dragon's back so it is like a light rain to encourage them to drink or to help with shedding. However, most dragons don't like to be misted from my experience so I find its just easier to soak them for shedding problems and if they look dehydrated.

Eye droppers or needless syringes can be used to drop water on a dragon's lip to encourage them to drink as well.

Misting their salad also increases the amount of water they can take in as well.

I mist Arnie's head (VERY lightly) everyday. If he wants to drink, he will hang his head down in 30-60 seconds. If he doesn't want a drink, I won't spray anymore.
It took me a few months to train him to do this though.
It's funny when he has had enough...he does that hand waving thing.
