Hi,
I have a cbb nosey be that I purchased as an 11 month old in late August of last year. He had a very few tiny dark spots in a few places on his skin, but I didn't give it more than a passing thought at the time. It was very slight and I figured they would probably dissapear before long anyway. After a month or two, they dramatically changed and multiplied some, turning into grey patches where they were open with no scales. The largest one of these, being about a 1/4" in diameter is behind his head on the side of his body. They are grey as I said, and appear soft or hard, which can change on the same "sore" from time to time. He sheds a lot to say the least, probably trying to repair his skin. I took it to the vet, and didn't have much luck. They aren't as experienced as I would hope. So after a month of not hearing anything back from the vet, I asked for a prescription to baytril, becauase I really had no other options, and am hoping its bacterial. I have been treating it with baytril, which runs out tomorrow, for about 3 1/2 weeks now. It has changed the sores some, with the one on his side finally shrinking some and becoming flatter. However, I don't know if it is really from the baytril or just going away on its own. It is happening slowly. I have noticed the most difference in the last week. Should I request another refill for the baytril? He has had it for some time now, and it doesn't appear life-threatening. In fact, besides being aesthetically unpleasant to look at, you would never have a clue anything was wrong with him. He acts completely healthy in every way, and is very tame. I am just sick of looking at these skin anomalies. I wanted to breed him, and get out of breeding the veileds. But I don't want to breed him until he gets better. I know you can't know what it without examining it. Guess I am just hoping to get lucky I suppose and run into some good advice. Thanks.
Kevin S.
