Can the misting water be too cold?

wideglide Sep 03, 2003 08:40 AM

Last night I misted my dragon with room temp. water in a spray bottle. She was facing the bottle and her back didn't get wet. I sprayed her about 3 times. A few minutes after I was done she changed positions and had her side facing where I would have been spraying. I realized there was no moisture on her back so I decided to give her a few more sprays. After the second shot she freaked out on me. She hopped around for a few seconds then shook her front legs intermettenly a couple of times as if to try to shake them dry. That was all that happened and lasted for maybe 5 seconds.

Is it possible the water could have chilled her too much and shocked her system or are these beginning signs of a bigger problem? Also, she had just eaten about 1 hour before the misting.

She's about 8" and has seemed healthy so far. I've had her about 3 weeks. Thanks!

I don't know about too cold, but our smallest dragon hates getting her feet wet.
She'll shake her feet like a cat, if she steps in water, or if it trickles down her legs during misting. Seems like it must tickle or something.
Usually after misting, all of ours climb back under the spot lights to dry out and warm back up.

Thanks for the info. I bet that's what she was doing. Funny creatures, these dragons! It's not just a ride, it's an adventure!!
