do they need a uvb since they do come out sometimes in the day?
or dont need it they are nocturnal?

Strictly speaking, they don't *need* it, but having kept them both with and without UVB, I've found them to be more active and generally perkier when they do have it. Of course, many people successfully keep them without, but it's a noticeable enough difference in mine that she gets to keep her full spectrum bulb. I noticed the same thing with a gecko I used to have who passed away a few years ago, so while it's still not a large enough sample to be statistically significant, it's more than just one gecko.

I have kept mine over 6 years, and do not give them UVB. Make sure they get calcium though! Keep a container with dust in the tank or add Neocalglucon it to their water
So no, they do not need UVB to thrive.
