Feeding accident.........

rainbowsrus Jul 20, 2008 01:01 AM

Was feeding some two year olds tonight and had a weird accident. Scarlett was hungry and struck at the prey as soon as it was in the cage. She hit it alright but with such force that she jammed her lower jaw between the plexi door and the plastic frame. So far in and tightly wedged, I had to take the door hinge off to free her. Sorry for the poor quality but was much more interested in freeing her than getting a good pic.

This is one side of her lower jaw, check out those teeth....

Nice shot...makes me very glad my BRB's don't bite anymore, then again maybe I just don't do stupid mistakes around them anymore

I opened my mouth and out flowed a melody black.

She is fine, once I got one of the hinges unbolted I could flex the door enough to get her jaw and teeth out. Something I did not know, those teeth do NOT flex at all. The lip/gums retract to expose them. All she did was kill her already twice dead food some more. I killed it first, then she killed it while stuck to the door then killed it again when she was freed from the door. Once it was 3x dead, then she eat it. Guess she likes her rat steaks well done?

At first it was "wow check out those teeth", then when I realized she was really stuck gears quickly changed to "oh crap, how to get her free w/out injury".

Ha, great pic Dave. I made a mistake and showed my girlfriend this one, whoops I think she's now reconsidering her willingness to hold my BRB's.
