She stopped laying......any advice?

tomsey Jul 20, 2008 05:57 AM

Hello.
I checked on my female and didn't realize that she was in the middle of laying eggs.
She had already laid 4......and now has stopped. She has about 10 more to go. (This is her second clutch this year)
It has been 24 hours since I disturbed her.
The next egg in line is almost right at the vent. She is stretched (scale seperation) and is probably uncomfortable.

Any advice on how long to wait before assisting her?
If I do need to assist, how would I do that?

Thanks for any help!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

There are intervals between each egg being laid. Sometimes the snake needs a little rest. I don't think disturbing a snake which is laying eggs causes it to stop doing so most of the time. It seems that snakes go into "auto pilot" when laying eggs.

I'd simply wait. Chances are the snake will resume laying it's eggs.
