Went hiking through Lake Bob Sandlin State Park in north east texas today to find out what we could see. Not 5 minutes after we start down the trail my wife and I see a Green Snake ( Not sure if it was smooth or rough because i could'nt get a hold of it.) We also saw numerous Skink & Frogs, But i was kind of disappointed that this was the only snake we saw. Anyone have any tips for future expeditions?

the only one we have in northeast texas is the rough green. now that it's 100 degrees, the only luck i expect to have is night-cruising after a rain. however, i have seen a northern scarlet and a mud snake this week.

Yeah, no snakes moving, except for the unfortunate Virginia that my Jack Russell caught in the backyard late night. Now defunct.
Lots of lizards in the early morning where I am in Texas. I also managed to get a couple of pics of a greenie a couple of weeks ago.

Northeast Texas just has the Rough Green, I found my first ones last year in Kentucky - they are cool snakes.
