my first hatch

jamesalternafan Jul 20, 2008 08:47 PM

Five of nine are out of the egg and look healthy. I don't know much but can I cut the others who are peeping their head out out of their eggs as well? What would happen if I did? Does anyone have any experience with this. Also I noticed one of them out of the egg had something dragging out of its cloaca is this normal?

Thanks
James

If they are "peeping thier heads out" then leave them alone, I know your excited for them to fully emerge, but leave them alone and they will be out in a day or so..

What was the stuff dragging around its butt? It fell of and the snake looks normal now. All nine are out and look good, but I was curious what it was.

That was the cord conecting the snake to the yolk sack that provided the snake with nutrition while in the egg..

Congrats on the hatch!
