Gravid mystery...solved.

ilovemylizard Jul 21, 2008 12:11 PM

Found 25 slugs this morning...I feel bad for her, she's pushing them all around to get them moving... I think I'm going to leave her alone for a few hours before I pull her out...

This is Myra, my 50/50 Suriname het albino, who had a litter of babies last September...she had not been with a male since mid 2007. But in the last few months I noticed her refusing food quite often, and getting that 'flat tire' gravid profile...

Somehow she produced ova all by herself. I've heard of this happening, but I am very suprised to actually see it.

Even though no babies, I am actually quite relieved...I was considering getting her an ultrasound because I was worried something else was very wrong with her...

Heather glad to see that you solved the mystery.

I hope your female is fine.

Now you can concentrate on nurturing her back to weight and health.

Sorry to see slugs, but glad that your female is ok. Just by the head shot of her, she looks gorgeous and dominantly BCC in coloration. If you have any plans on breeding her in the future I wish you the best of luck.

Glad to see the mystery solved, looks like she is quite healthy and did not lose any real mass with the slugs like when dropping a litter. Now time to toss her a nice meal!!!!

Congrats on hopefully making it over a hurtle with that girl! That sure beats her being sick huh? That's one instance when slugs are a good thing.

.....a pile of slugs is a good thing! Very glad to hear your mystery is solved and that it had a comparatively simple and happy ending. I'm guessing she will be quite happy to eat for you now!
