Still in the egg but after years of trying it looks as though we finally got it. THE TRUE GHOST! More pics after it gets out of the egg.

I missed again, on my second clutch this year but there was only 3 good eggs. There is an Axanthic in the clutch, so at least my second 100% Het Ghost possible Het Axanthic female proved out to be a double Het also. There's always next year! The True Ghost baby looks just like I thought it would. Congrats! Hope it's a boy for you!!! Looking forward to seeing it out of the egg. Are we going to see some "Triple Recessive" Hets in the future?

We only had three eggs as well so we felt lucky this time around.

Axanthic x Hypo = Ghost

Many people have been using the terms Hypo and Ghost interchangeably over the past few years which has added to the confusion and resulted in the Ghost as being "renamed" to "TRUE Ghost".

Hopefully, now we can call a Hypo a Hypo and save the Ghost moniker for the Axanthic x Hypo cross.

medusah Jul 21, 2008 03:30 PM

Couldn't agree any more with you, wish people would burry the Ghost acronyme and exclusively use ''Hypo'', this beautiful creature deserves a better name then ''True Ghost''.

TSKinc Jul 21, 2008 03:34 PM

We are with you on this one as well. We have used hypo for a long time. Let it be done!

Congrats on producing such an elusive animal. What day is the egg on in that picture? I am just wondering how much/if it will get anymore coloring.

Thanks for ending the wait,

I doubt it will change much more.

Dan

muddoc Jul 21, 2008 03:25 PM

Thanks Dan. Like you, I doubt it will get much more color. I thought the egg could have been between day 50 and 52, in which case it might have colored up a bit. I only ask because we are about 14 days from cutting our clutch. Congrats, and good luck with the rest of the season.

Thank you and hopefully you will get one as well. Seems that one has been are hard one to hit on. Well good luck in 14 days.

give this beautiful creature a new name, ''True Ghost'' just sounds so ridiculous

Congrats on hatching the first Axanthic Hypo

TSKinc Jul 21, 2008 05:55 PM

A new name may be in order but everyone was waiting for the True Ghost. I think Ghost would be fine if we can call all the others Hypos. ????

Not sure about that we will have to see how many snakes we bring out this time. We would probably have it in Anahiem though.
