Nelson's eating a chick

z10silver Jul 21, 2008 03:08 PM

Here are some photos of my 03' female getting her weight back up after laying her first clutch on June 10th. I've been alternating between mice and chicks at each feeding.

....and here are the eggs - if they are incubating at 81-82 degrees when can I expect them to start hatching?

Thanks,
Zach

Wow, I never thought I'd see anything like that! They should start hatching around 60 days or so. Good luck with those.

Zach,
That's a pretty interesting sight! I would start watching for those eggs to hatch the first part of August as they generally take about 50 to 70 days in my experience. Can I ask you what the marks on the eggs symbolize?? Just curious.

thanks for the reply - the marks are just so I know the direction the eggs were laid in case they were turned.

Oh ok, now I get it. I just remember when I hatched chicken eggs I would mark them so I would know which way they were facing everyday when I rotated them. Just making sure you weren't turning your eggs everyday.
