Mexican Hognose pics

bbox Jul 22, 2008 01:27 AM

I just thought that I would post a couple pics of my adult Mexicans. Seeing Joe's pics of his hatching has me excited about seeing mine. Mine should start hatching in a couple of weeks.

Brad,My first thought when I saw these guys was,Hey, they look alot like mine! Could they possibly be from the same locale? Jeff

Brad,
The snake in the top two photos is actually from a different locality in West Texas that is a fair distance from any others that I have (it was found it transit on the way back to Wichita Falls by a friend of mine). It was found less than a mile Southwest of the Pecos River in Pecos County. The bottom pic is from the same locality as your stock. I love all of the Trans-Pecos snakes. I used to breed Val Verde snakes, but they weren't as good of rodent feeders as these are. I really think that several people have had bad experiences with Mexican hognose because there are so many South Texas animals out there. I used to breed those as well and had horrible luck with them. BTW, your Alpine alterna laid yet?

Yes-I think the Trans-Pecos hoggies are definitely superior rodent feeders, and i like their looks as well (though I've seen som absolute knockout s. Texas hogs as well!).

As for the female alterna-she just shed yesterday, so cross your fingers!
