This all depends on your animals husbandry. If you have great husbandry (heating, lighting, humidity), and feed a diet of whole prey food items you will see the best results in growth. Can you give details on your cage setup? I also have a savanah and it is growing about 2-4 inches a month - not nearly as fast as the blackthroat.

.....I beleive your savanah should be close to full grown (3-4ft) by the end of the first year.

i got mine when it was about 5 inches long. now it is probably about 3 feet (haven't measured in awhile. I have had her for a year exactly.

If I was looking for a huge lizard worthy of horror movies, I wouldn't have bought a savannah...

Seriously, don't get it in your head that you will have this impressive massive lizard with a savannah. I used to think that also. Love it for what it is; a medium size monitor.

Up your basking area to 140, and feed it whole mice and chicks daily.

I'm keeping him in a 30 gallon breeder with a large water dish that he soaks inwith the recommended lights form my pet stoe he usually eats 2 to 5 crickets a day i also keep a large piece of driftwood for him and cover the back and sides of the tank when i first got em he was prolly 4 inches or so now a lil less than 8in but he seems much more filled out i know hes goin to get 3ft or so but ive heard some people say they grow very fast

Dont expect more than 3-4ft, on a rare occasion a male may exceed that by a few inches.
They are medium sized as a species, if you want to see a big monitor a large species would be needed, say a water monitor, a blackthroat, etc.
