Spot vs. Flood MV Bulbs

Syd Sep 03, 2003 01:08 PM

For those of you that use Mercury Vapor Bulbs do you use the Spot or Flood bulbs for your beardies? What are the advantages/dis-advantages for both besides the obvious ones. The spost bulb will concentrate the light in a single spot correct? The Flood bulb will disperse the light throughout the cage? Thanks in advance to all who reply!

I use spot, it concentrates the heat into the basking area and the heat disperses to all other areas of the tank.

The bad thing about the spot is that you're not supposed to get the bulb within 6 feet of the dragon. At least that's what it said on the one I bought from LLL (zoomed) so I sent it back and got the flood. It works fine for me.
