het albino/yellow belly breeding

luvmyhydra Jul 22, 2008 10:20 PM

I have what I believe to be a Yellow Belly male. He has slight blushing on his dark spots, barely any flecks on his belly the dirty yellow look going on, the light head etc. I masy be getting my hands on a female Albino het next week. If he is a YB, are there any chances he could bring that Albino gene out?

No, albino and yellow belly characteristics are entirely independent. The only way to make a het albino show is to cross it with an albino (50% of the offspring will be albino, 50% will be het albino) or with another het albino (25% of the offspring will be albino, and the other 75% will be 66% possible het albino).

Crossing a yellowbelly with a het albino would produce the following:
50% Yellowbelly with 50% possible het albino
50% possible het albino
