How much food is to much?

snakemanjim Sep 03, 2003 01:12 PM

I purchased a 3 year old ball about 3 weeks ago.He was visably over weight(skin is very visible between the scales). The person I purchased him from fed he a med rat once a week.
The first week I had him he would not eat.The second week he eat very quickly as soon as the rat hit the bottom of his cage. But I only fed him a small rat.Now it has been 6 days since he ate and he is acting very aggressive. My question is should I continue to feed him a Med. rat every 7 days or cut him back to a small rat every 7 days? or wait even a couple of days longer between feeding.

Thanx JIM

I've never encountered an obese BP, but I would recommend either feeding him a smaller food item on the same schedule that you feed now, or an appropriate sized item once every, say two weeks. It seems suspicious/not quite right that a 3 year old male BP would become obese on a med rat once a week.
