A female box turle who enjoys hanging out in the pond

dustrbunny Sep 03, 2003 01:28 PM

I have a female box turtle who has been hanging out in the pond all day and into the night if you let her.
It all started when I noticed a slight cut on one of her rear legs, which probably came from one of the boys. The cut has since closed and has heal nicely, but she continues to hang in the pond until you go down with a flashlight and pull her out at night.

My question, is there something I'm missing? What's going on with the little girl?

Please help!!

Mine do this on occasion for a couple days at a time. It's especially noticeable when they are sick, or when the females are close to laying or soon after. I don't stop them from doing it and I rarely have sicknesses progress for long, so perhaps they know what they need.
