To Clarify

saddleman Jul 23, 2008 09:55 AM

My original post to the babies was not to say that Ric Blair is not an honest guy, my off hand remark about him tripping and adding some RR to his Xmas was a poor attempt at humor. I have known Ric for 35 years and never thought that he would purposely mix bloodlines and represent them as pure. I do however know that it happens purposely or accidently and as bloodlines change hands sometimes those facts are lost. My comments where to say only that I don't think speckles represent Xmas.
To clarify, do not take anything I said to mean that Ric is not trustworthy and if any of my comments tarnished him, then I apologize.

Rick

Thank You Saddleman. I have put a lot of time, effort and money into my collection. It was not for the money, but for enjoyment and fulfilment. To see the beauty of what can come from locality animals. I will admit that South and North hill does not matter to me so much. Actually I would think anything within a mile or two radius should be OK. It seems to be OK for Junos and 277's and river roads and lower sector gaps. I am pretty anal about my purity to a degree. I have a question and maybe some of you might reflect to give me an opinion. Norm Nunley and I caught 3 alterna in sanderson one night. An awesome one dead center in the town of Sanderson. What is everyones opinion on breeding this snake. DO I need to hunt downtown to pair it up, LOL. How far East or West would be reasonable? I'll wait for responses! Thanks again Rick for this post. I can go on vacation feeling a little better. The problem is that to a newbie or person that does not know me the vagueness of the post might make someone think I just breed what I can, and might fudge a little now and then. I hope this clears it all up! Too many things going through my mind, sorry about jumping around so much in this post! Ric

Ask Fraser or Engledorf to see if either has any ideas about in town snakes. There have been several.

I was gonna say, I think Roy E. caught one or more right on his motel's property. In fact, I'm almost certain he did.

He had some neat ones, on a sidenote...one looked almost like a trimorphodon...just chocolate brown all over.

Just hit the large hill north of town or the one south of town.

I think they have been found at the track or school as well.

Best of Luck!

In reference to east , west or in town........take the town out of the equation. Look at it from a topographical point of view. east, west and town are all sitting in the same canyon. The real question about locality and sharing genes is how far will males venture during the breeding season ?

any problem pairing it up with snakes from the cut just over the Sanderson Canyon Bridge. Distance-wise, it's probably less than a mile from where you found your snake. However there are many obstacles. I'd rather pair it up with one of the ones Roys got. I think Stu has one from the track, and another guy caught one in town this year. If it were me Id use one of those instead of the ones from just East.
