New Setup

I have had my male blood for a little over a year now, he is doing great and growing fast. He is about 4 feet long now and super heavy and fat. Due to his rapid growth rate I recently moved him into a bigger setup and was just wondering what some of you pros think, seeing that this is my first blood experience. I realize the cage is pretty tall but i think (think) the levels are OK. the temp on the cool end is 78 the hot end is 85. I do have the heat lamp and directly under that is 90. I read somewhere bloods do not require a heat lamp but i think i was misinformed. (?) the humidity level is about 50%. I do think the ventilation factor is a problem, the enclosure has a glass top now and i need to build a screen top to get some airflow in there, i think. I also added a live fiscus plant because i bought one too many for the chameleons last time i went plant shopping. Let me know what needs to change or what is good!

Thanks-
Dan

Your set up looks pretty... but that plant will be toast with such a heavy animal.
50% is too dry...I usually keep mine up around 70% or higher.
It will be really hard to keep the humidity up with a heat lamp, and a screen top. I'd cover 3/4 of it with sheet plastic or glass, and consider a UTH... although it is harder to keep the temps up high enough if your room temp drops below 70. When I had display tanks with them, I added a printed background and then Insulation board behind the tank to help.
Good Luck

i like your quote! so do you think i should not even mess with a screen top and just spray in there daily to keep humidity up and keep the glass top? i did have problems with the old set up (which was a 40 gallon with a screen top) my snake got a respiratory infection so the vet said because he made a whistling sound when he would breathe. kind of like the gopher on winnie the pooh when he would say his s's. but i know the airflow factor is important as well, so it seems like i am between a rock and a hard place. my snake seems fine now, breathing fine, and eating like a t rex, so its kind of like the old saying 'if its not broken, don't fix it', but i know most have their humidity levels higher.
Thanks for the advice.
