KTVB (Boise, Idaho) 20 July 08 Snake escapes home, slithers across busy road (Monique James)
Boise: Why did the snake cross the road? That’s the question Boise Police were asking themselves today after a nine foot long albino python escaped from a home near Maple Grove and Cornwall -- then tried to slither across busy Maple Grove.
A passerby noticed the snake this morning, called police and then put the snake into a construction barrel to keep it from getting away.
The owners of Rogue the snake - say it wiggled out of their open upstairs window, across the lawn and into traffic.
"Well around probably 7 o'clock (Sunday) morning I heard a large thud and I didn’t really think nothing of it because we have children and things of that nature and I was just thinking ‘oh somebody must have dropped something or jumped off the bed.’ I didn’t have any clue that Rogue here got out," said the snake’s owner, Eathon Gums.
In all it took two Boise Police officers and several witnesses to get the snake back home.
The owners say the snake is harmless but from now on, they'll keep a more watchful eye on her.
