Sunglows babies from an Anery!!!!....

JJsBoas Jul 23, 2008 09:23 PM

Hey everyone,

Well, I finally had some time to post some pics of the sunglow th moonglow litter I found this past Saturday morning. Personally this has been my most anticipated litter this breeding season because it makes me one step closer to a snow and/or moonglow, which is the snake I’ve been wanting to produce for a VERY long time.

Back in 2001, I bought a 2001 Female Anery 66% Het Snow from Rich Ihle. She had some normal anery babies for me back in 2006, but my albino didn’t want to breed her, and I didn’t know I had a DH Sunglow in my collection until 2007 (long story). But this year I bred her to my 100% proven DH Sunglow. Here they are breeding this past winter:

It was a very exciting time, and I couldn’t wait for an ovulation from this female, which she eventually did. Momma Anery was fairly “textbook” throughout her gestation, and she looked like she was about to pop the entire last month of her pregnancy. Here is the soon-to-be-momma a week or two just before giving birth:

Well, she was due July 15, 2008. That day came and went and I was on pins and needles. She then had her pre-birth waxy stool on Thursday night, July 17, and I figured the big day would be in the next day or two. Friday nothing. Then Saturday morning I found this in her cage (sorry for the lowsy pic):

WOOHOOO!!!! I was speechless and could barely contain myself. Here are some pics of the babies in the cage just after I took momma out, she was tired and didn’t put up a fight at all :

Needless to say my Anery proved out to be 100% SNOW. Crossed off that 66% really quick. I got exactly the babies I wanted: SUNGLOWS 100% Het Anery (aka Sunglows TH Moonglow), along with some “not too shabby” Albinos 100% Anery (aka Albinos Het Snow), and some possible TH Moonglows and possible DH Snows.

Here are all the babies right after I removed them from the cage. Believe it or not there are 29 healthy babies in there.

Here are the sunglows and poss triple het moonglows:

Here are the albinos and poss dh snows:

As you can see, the babies were FANTASTIC full-term babies. Final count was 11 poss th moonglows, 11 poss dh snows, 3(?) sunglows th moonglow, & 4(?) albinos dh snows. The question is there because one of the sunglows is either a low grade sunglow or a really nice albino. I’ll have to wait until that first shed to see if I can differentiate. Still I am super excited!!!!!

Finally, here are some close-ups I took on the date of birth immediately after removal from momma’s cage:

I stare at these babies for about an hour every night just before I go to sleep. I simply in awe and can’t wait til they shed.

Hope you all enjoyed the pics. Congrats to those who’ve had litters and best wishes to those still expecting litters.

Jay

Congrats on that beautiful litter. Always a wonderful thing to see an animal prove out the possible genetics. I don't blame you for looking at them every night for an hour. I think I'd have a hard time tearing myself away for sleep though

Thanks Randy,

I'm glad you understand my dilemma. I'd sit there and stare at these babies for another hour until 1 or 2 in the morning if I didn't have to get up at 6am to get ready for work. And this is my 2nd time this year in proving out a 66% to be 100% het albino. Very cool stuff.

Thanks again,

Jay

Hi Brian,

Excited is an understatement. I've been waiting for this litter for a long time, especially since my '01 albino male didn't want anything to do with this girl for the past several years. I'm just happy that Momma Anery carried such a spectacular, healthy litter. And the bonus is that she proved out!

Thanks so much for the compliments.

Enjoy the hours of watching them.

That is just so cool.
