Northern pine eggs finally hatched..

Dwight Good Sep 03, 2003 02:36 PM

This was my first ever clutch of pine snakes and I ended up with 100% hatch rate and 7 big healthy babies. They are kinda ugly (to me) right now, hopefully they will look better after they shed?

morphs do. LOL. You'll discover they are eating machines right out of the egg. You won't have to dangle or split any pinkie heads for these guys. Good luck with your pituophis babies.

Most of the pits are ugly babies, then grow into some awesome beasts!
Do you have pics of the adults?

Not right now, but I'll snap some ASAP and post them. I'd like to get everyone's opinions on them. I bought the adults a few years ago as babies from Mark Kennedy in PA. Raised them up and viola!

This is a pic of a monster adult female that I sold earlier this summer. She was a beast! This snake is not the mother of the babies pictured though.

looking clutch. I'm sure they will brighten up and look nice after they shed. Please post some pics of them after that. I am picking up some Northerns from Terry and Del, and some from Russell. As soon as i get them i'll be taking pics and posting.
Have a good one Dwight,

Gregg F.

Every shed should yeild a better looking snake. They loose the dirty look and turn more white with age.

Take Care

Ironically, I took this pic while one snake was still in the egg. Of course when it crawled out earlier this afternoon there was quite a bit of color showing already as compared to its siblings.

Thanks for all the positive comments, I'll be posting updates as these guys shed and continue to grow. I'll also post some pics of the adults as well.

you won't believe how much better they look after their first shed. Even then, they won't fully develop their coloration until they are a couple of years old, in my opinion.
