sick gecko

Piney Jul 24, 2008 05:58 PM

I posted around July 25 about my gecko having a "blister" under his front leg. I did take him to the vet and found it was a cyst. The vet drained it one day and it returned the next. She also noticed a tilt to his head and a dialated pupil in left eye. Any way after much loving and treating I had him put to sleep. He was ready to go and is at peace now. We were together for 7 years, 8 months. He is missed.

I am sorry for your loss, but thank you for putting him out of pain. It is the hardest thing to watch, I know from personal experience, but if we could only get more owners to understand that being put to sleep is not only for cats and dogs, but also little leos.

May he have all the crunchy insects he can catch if there is a gecko heaven.

Ah, Sleepygecko, thank you very much.

8 years! Bless your heart. In a hobby where most people don't keep them longer than after checking to see what they breed, I congratulate you for keeping your pet so long.

It hurts to lose a pet very much. Know that he was in a better environment because he was stable with you, and your care. There is nothing anyone can say. I am sorry for your loss.

Wanda

Thank you, Wanda. He was my little buddy, and not for breeding. I knew when he wanted out of his tank to spend time on my shoulder or the back of the couch. He is missed.
