There is no ban, never has been. All that has happened is a request for information on the topic. Information has been submitted. This community has come together and sent in the requested info. I'm not sure if they are still accepting comments, but frankly, I'm 100% sure that the general "I keep snakes and I don't think they should be banned" comments are 100% disregarded. What they want is hard data...economic numbers, actual environmental impact data, etc...I know the parties that have that kind of info have made themselves heard. I really think everyone should relaxe at this point and see what happens...

Did anyone see The Non-Native Wildlife Invasion Prevention Act (H.R. 6311). I assume some people on here did because PIJAC sent out a notice about it. The bill is much like the proposed ban for snakes only it is for all species. A list would be generated of non-native species approved for importation. Species not on this list, already in the US, would not be allowed to be transported over state lines. I seriously doubt this bill goes anywhere. It is only in the introduction phase and most bills don't make it out of committee. I wouldn't worry about it, but just thought I would mention it.

Right. If you go to VPI's website and look on the lower right hand side (you probably know this, but for others), you can see the Barkers written response to the inquiry. This is the kind of response that was asked for and that carries weight behind it, not the "you'll pry my snakes from my cold dead hands" wacko posts...
