Broken tooth?

drasticplastic Jul 25, 2008 12:06 AM

I have a possible triple het that strikes at everything including me just walking by the cage. Tonight when I walked by he struck 3 times very rapidly and when I peaked in on him I noticed that it looked like he had a tooth sticking out on the side of his mouth in between his......lips I guess you'd say. Should I be concerned with this? will it just fall out and all will be well or is this something I should tend to? Feeding day is this weekend and I'm wondering if it's ok to feed him like this. It can't be substrate because I use paper towels with dri-dek on top. Anyway, thoughts?

It's fine. It will take care of itself, or you can pull it if you want. They pop right out at that stage.

Teeth Fall out throughout their lifetime.

Should be nothing to worry about.

You should cover the front of the enclosure to keep him from blasting his face.

He could injure his nose.

I bought a female that kept doing that as a baby and the tip of her nose is permanantly bent down.

Ones that strike the glass should have it covered. I had one do that and ended up hooking it's own lip on it's teeth. My wasn't that fun, restraining a pissed off snake while trying to detach it's lip from it's teeth while trying not to do any more damage etc.

Just the other day I got bit, I didnt expect it and pulled away pretty hard, when all was said and done I pulled about 5 teeth outta my arm, I've just been keeping an eye on him and so far so good, however I have heard of infections starting that way so I'd just keep an eye on it.

The mouth heals very well, but you always need to be aware that infections are possible after breaking a tooth or pulling one completely out.
