VOMMITING DIEING HATCHLING PLEASE HELP!!!

mike3 Sep 03, 2003 03:36 PM

I just came home today and i was going to take the hatchlings outside for a little sun but when i saw the cage it was the worste thing i ever saw. There was purple regurgitated food all over its face and front ams, and in the tank there are pecies of regurgitated food everywhere. I thought the hatchling was dead so i picked it up and to my surprise it was still alive. But is very week. What should i do. Why did it vommit. I somewhat added two different foods. 1 of them which is radichio i was giving them for the last few days but put added twice as much this time, the other one i ran out and got some more today. There is red/ purple vommit all over the tank. Since i have a papper substrate it looks even worse. Do you think he ate too much food and had to vommit it out? What should i do i dont want to lose another hatchling. Please help this little guy just started doing well and now this. Please even if you have an idea what is going on please email me. I cant go to the vet because it would take a days drive and i have school and too many activities.

other than the vet, I haven't the slightest clue what could be wrong. Maybe try calling Doug at Deerfernfarms.com??? I'm sure he would be more than happy to help you out. The best of luck and definately keep us posted!

I talked to lindsay, and he said that he has never heard of or seen any uro regurgitate. Maybe it is from him pooping? Linday also said that it might be soemthing passed on from his parents, especially if they are imports that never were vet checked. if he is just having some runny poo, you probably can get meds from the vet. But if one hatchling is having these problems, i would think the rest would also, unfortunatly. I would just keep on eye on him for a few days until the weekend when you could maybe(?) go to the vet.
Good luck and keep updating...

Well tell lindsay that my uro vommited. Maybe i unfortunatly have the first vommiting uro. While i was cleaning it up it vommited again. I know it vommited before because it's mouth and front legs are covered with purple vommit, even its mouth has purple stuff. I look at its vent and it ws totally clean / purple free. I am not going to clean it becaues when i started to clean it it vommited so i am going to leave it for a few days and when it stops vommiting, which i think it did i will clean it up. Now it seems more active, i guess i came right after it vommited because the vommit was fresh and it was i guess tired and feeling like crap. now it is almost back to normal. I think that it is ok. But i think you guys should tell lindsay and douglas that uros do vommit. and when they do there is a lot of water/moisture in it and food. So tomarow moring i am going to give it a bath. the vommit actually looks like purple baby food with a few chunks of lettuce in it. So i think the hatchling is fine now, i guess it had an upset stomach, ate to much, or was gaging on a peace of food and thru up. I think it will survive because it is basically back to normal. Thank you very much for all of your help.

PS its mom and dad are long term captives treated for parasites so i dont think the hatchlings got anything from them or thier dried poo. So i am not that worried anymore.
