veiled cham with eye problems

smcallister Sep 03, 2003 04:12 PM

currently my veiled cham is about 2 months old, kept under an 18 inch UVB light with another basking spotlight. he has a pothos plant and several branches surrounding it. i feed him dusted crickets as much as i can until lately when he stopped eating when the eye problem started.

so i took Carlton's advice (from cham forum) and put my cham in the shower for about 30 minutes with the door closed. he seemed to like it and was looking better but then when i moved his plant and him back into his cage, he keeps closing his eyes again. he's not sleeping so he's obviously not sick and ive been making sure i'm keeping him hydrated. also, he keeps winking and rubbing his eye on branches as if there's something in there. ive called the vet and she said just to keep watching him but he is not eating during this. is there anything else i can do to help him out?

Something must be off-kilter. What is the ambient temperature of the room? Re-check all your parameters for Veiled Chameleon husbandry. If there is no improvement & all husbandry conditions are met, then see a qualified reptile vet.
Goodluck.
