Need advice

jonnyblaze Jul 26, 2008 03:50 AM

Hey everyone,
It's been awhile since I've posted on here..My dragon has been acting weird for himself..He has been ignoring his food lately and has just been letting the crickets crawl on him and I have to blow them off for him..He has been eatting food I hold infront of him on tweezers, like hornworms, butterworms, and other types of worms..When he eats crickets,I have to push the crickets with one of his stones toward him and then he'll eat..I know he's not blind either..I have him in a 40 gallon tank,he's a year old(I've had him since he was a few weeks old),he has been pooping but not as often as he used to..Today he only had peed(only white),which I thought was weird..I've had him on english walnut shells for maybe 6 months now and I am actually switching to playsand today or tomorrow..Every different kind of substrate has its ups and downs soo it's hard to pick what's best for beardies..His temps are fine too..When I take him out of his cage everyday,I let him run around on the ground and he is pretty active..He hasn't been eatting his greens much either, its rare now..Before he was obsessed with his veggies..I don't know what's going on with him soo I hope someone has any ideas..
Thanks alot

He could be impacteed or a little constapated. From what I hear everywhere walnut shells are bad. Try soaking him more than once if needed, till he has a good poop in the water. Also check your temps and a 40 gallon seems kind of small being that your dragon is a year old is is about done growing but should still have a larger enclosure. Also he might be brumating one of my dragons went through a phase like that but then again another one was doing the same thing and I kept soaking him till he pooped out a hard chunk of what looked like calcium idk maybe I was over supplementing him. Good Luck.
