Breeding questions

wvherp Jul 26, 2008 02:49 PM

Hi all. I have an 05 MSP Thayeri that is a little over 3 feet. Last week at Columbus OH show I picked up an 06 female MSP that is a little over 2 feet (about 26 inches). About how big should the female be before attempting to breed? 3 feet? Also, what is the typical brumation period used to breed Thayeri? Thanks for any help. I have only had one snake breed, a normal corn this year, so I could use any help you can give. Hopefully next year or 2010 these Thayeri could make some babies!
Thanks again
Joel

Your female could go next year, how much does she weigh?.

Rick gave a good synopsis of what he does a few posts down the page, check it out here: forums.kingsnake.com/view.php?id=1562856,1564180

Joe, I have no accurate scale with which to weigh her but she is on the thin side right now. I have fed her on Monday and will again today, trying to keep her on a 5 day diet plan. She is eating a couple of very large fuzzies. Actually the mice have all fur, eyes are open.
Thanks
Joel
