Pet Stores

ecrowell Jul 27, 2008 10:36 AM

Although this is not a question, I felt I had to write this. I was in a chain pet store yesterday and watched baby beardies eat mealworms. One was in such distress, and is problably dead by now. When one of the workers came over I told him mealworms are not for babies cause they are dangerous. He kinda laughed and said he always fed them mealies and had a 2 month old beardie that ate them all its life. After calling him an idoit I walked out the store and will never buy anything from them. I can't believe how unknowledgable these places can be. I just wanted to rant and rave a little, and get this off my chest.

yea unfortunatly thats how most pet stores are, thats why we as private breeders and the reputable breeders like Bloodbank,DragginTails,Dachiu,Phantom, and Alpha should target some of the beginners so that we can help them all do it right and get healthy dragons, so that they dont support a store that dont take care of their animals. Its better for us and better for them as the consumer.

Most of us get suckered by pet stores in the beggining. Thats what they are there for the unsuspecting beginner(especialy for herps)By time most peole learn the truth the pet store made a ton of money off of them.example a $40 normal will go for up to $120 at a chain pet store.

i agree i hate how things at pet stores are...i work at one and ate it more and more every day...ill be damned tho if i'll let the herps get mistreated...i even bring some of my own supply of silkies to make sure they get a little bit better food than my boss tells me to feed them...my co worker and i share a strong love for reptiles so we r trying to make my boss only buy cbb specimen and to stop feeding greens with lil to no nutritional value but it only works so much...we got baby beardies in a few weeks back that were barely 3 inches and i wanted to choke my boss for even accepting them and to top it off she priced the NORMAL babies at $180! needless to say no one buys the beardies at my job anymore and now they r all starting to come to me to buy beardies

Ha better hope they dont find out their customers are buying dragons from you, they call that "conflict of interest" haha I got in trouble with that before when i used to work at a petstore.
