In my opinion, it doesn't matter whether the snake is hot or not. Fresh water should be provided on a regular every day basis or at least every other day. I change water daily.

Water MUST be changed daily. Please read some books on caring for reptiles BEFORE purchasing one.

I've had venomous snakes for years. Then with the birth of my children, I gave up my 2 cobras, 2 dusky, 1 western, and copperheads. Now that the kiddies are grown, my wife and I compromised on copperheads. I change my water every other day and there isn't a person on this earth that will make me believe that I'm abusing my animals. My vet says that this is quite sufficient. I'm just wondering what other people do. I'm in no way looking to cut back on water changes. I've never lost a snake due to illness except 30 years ago I was given a temple viper and I was in my late teens and not prepared for such an animal. It still bothers me to this day.

Ok Brian, I owe you an apology. However I stand by my post of changing the water daily. The animal can deficate in it's water bowl.

No problem. and yes, when this happens I do change it.My animals Are in my living room and I love to look at them and I do every day.

As a microbiologist/geneticist, I only do twice a week water changes (unless they soil the water, of course) but I disinfect the bowl with boiling water every time and I use chlorinated water. I have never had an animal that got sick due to water but if you are using well water, which would be more tasty I am sure, I would advise daily changes due to the absence of chlorine.
