I haven't seen any around the visitors center even after 4 trips there this year, but my daughter and I found this one a couple miles east.

Chris, I wonder if the lizards around the visitors center were collected since eveyone now knows where to find them. Hope that's not the case.

They're most likely still there. I caught a fleeting glimpse of one as it disappeared under a boulder, but generally speaking my trips were too early in the season a couple of times, and then middle of the afternoon when the temps were HOT on my later trips.

I would think with the amount of visitor traffic around the visitor center, and the windows looking out over the boulder field, somebody trying to collect would be noticed and reported. There are plenty of areas outside the refuge with the same habitat where it's legal to collect (with a license).
