Stick w/ it. If it eats them and seems to have a better feeding responce keep it up. Are you also feeding it other food items? You may notice more bulk and build on your monitor.
I know my savannahs always went nuts at the first smell of blood from mice and they kind of went into a feeding frenzy, crickets etc they just ate like popcorn. But they put weight on faster so I took them out of the cage a lot and changed food between lean ground turkey mice and crickets. Also the cricket waste is a lot less of a stench than the mouse! I think its just a instinctive quality when they smell blood it gets their engine running...
I have been feeding her roaches too, but I was kinda hoping to get rid of them. It's only been two weeks since I started with the rats and I have already noticed her shape changing.... When I say she is WAY more active she tears her enclosure up, She's constantly moving. When I take her out, she shreds my arms up... not because shes an asshole she's actually quite nice. I'm way too nervous to take her outside anymore.
How long after feeding her are you taking her out? How often are you feeding her the rats? I know some people take their monitors out to seperate cages for feeding so they dont get so excited as soon as anyone comes to the tank thinking its feeding time. She could just be excited about finding more of those delecious rats.
If shes like that hours after feeding then I dunno what it could be. Only thing I can think of is she thinks she will find more food. My monitors would go nuts at the smell of blood but would calm down fast. I could take them out after and they'd smell around but when they realized they werent getting anymore food they would just roam around at normal speed. I also had a bell I rang when it was feeding time so they knew it was dinner time and any other time I went over to the cage they wouldnt get as excited.
