Questions about baby gecko feeding......

ZeR0 Sep 03, 2003 07:33 PM

I got a new baby gecko last weekend at a herp show, and I'm not sure if its eating enough. I've only had her/him for 4 days, and it seems to be eating around 4-5 mealworms or crickets a day. Its about 3.5 inches long by the way. It weights about 13 grams too. Does everything seem alright? I've never had a baby before, so I'm new to this.
I have him her in a rubbermaid tub thats about 10 x 12 inches. I have him/her at paper towels with a UTH and rheostat. S/he has a humid hide, a dry cave hide, and some paper towel rollls to hide in. I leave in a dish of mealworms and calcium, but havent noticed any mealworms being eaten, only if I get them to wiggle in front of her. I also have a small wattage bulb for extra air heat. I know I'm doing everything right Im just not sure if she should be eating more. Her/his belly seems full after eat, and is by no means underweight. Could it be she isnt eating as much from the move? Thanks for any replies...

The amount of food she is eating sounds good. As long as she doesn't seem to be loosing weight, you shouldn't have anything to worry about.
