Not Eating

cardiacsmd Jul 30, 2008 02:16 AM

Hello, I have a male pastel ball python about 2.5 months old. I have had him for almost three weeks and he is very active. I have him on a 12 hour light and 12 hour heat pad system and he has 2 hides. But the problem is, he will not eat! I have tried pinkies, fuzzies, hoppers, everything! The breeder did not use rats so I did not try those. He seems interested, but then he just goes about his business around the mouse! Any ideas? ;( Thanks!

totaly normal! stop trying to feed him or you will make matters worse! just leave him alone dont hold him and than only once a week try feeding him a rat fuzzy! if you keep trying you will only stress him out more. balls are know to not feed for many months at times with no ill effects. make sure your hot spot is about 90-92 degrees and cool side around 78 good luck and you must be patient.

If you get really worried about him you can take a prekilled and put him in a small container or paper bag, leave him be for a while and he may eat it.

Thanks guys! I will definitely try both those ideas!

Also make sure that it is not going into shed because around sheding it is common for them not to eat as well.

The other thing you didn't mention is if you are feeding live or frozen thawed. You should find out if the breeder was feeding live or frozen thawed and feed the same thing if you haven't already done this.
