Eight boxies and one mud

Went walking in the woods today behind my house.Hot and humid.Me and the dogs found 8 box turtles and one mud.Several of them I've seen before but some were new ones.Got some great pics.It's great knowing there is still a good population close by.This is a male by a creek.

Oh, ok. It's really interesting that the Carolinas are the hotbed of boxie activity. It must be really nice to take walks by your house and see them in such strong numbers.

It's not a coincidence that they're named Terrapene carolina carolina.
