Oxford, Md.: Officials in an Eastern Shore town have figured out the cause of a clog in the town's sewer system earlier this month: It was a six-inch turtle.
Public Works Director Scott Delude said crews had to shut down the sewage treatment plant for two days until they were able to use a high-pressured water jet to dislodge the culprit from a valve.
Delude said the plant closing didn't affect area residents, but he said the clog could have created a municipal backup.
The turtle did not survive the trip through the pipes.
