Odd Housing Question...

snakemother Jul 31, 2008 03:21 PM

I'm letting a friend take one of my pet ball pythons. This python is over 4 feet, and living in a 40 gallon long tank right now ( I keep kingsnakes, too, and just automatically think a snake needs a tank where the length width isn't too much smaller than the length of the snake). My friend has asked whether a 29 gallon tank would be fine for this snake or whether she should be looking for a 40 gallon. My first instinct is to keep the snake in as big an enclosure as it's used to, but wanted to consult experienced ball python keepers before I speak to her about this - what do you think? Thanks!
