boa problem

ryantholen Jul 31, 2008 05:10 PM

I got a new boa about a month and a half ago. At first it was great, eating good, and liked to be held. When it started shedding it got a little nippy. After it was done shedding it was still nippy, even striking at it's own tail. It has also refused food the last two weeks. It will kill the fuzzy rat and then just leave it there. I know not to feed it live, but it has not wanted to touch prekilled. I have it in a 20 gallon tank surrounded by wood so he can't see his neighbor or me when I come into the room. I am just worried about this little guy and wanted to know if anyone had some advice?

what kind of heating are you using? what's the hot spot, and the cool end temps? how about humidity?

Also, is it in a high traffic area, lots of noise or movement?

There is not a lot of traffic it is in the basement. The room is about 80 all the time. I heat her tank with a heat pad. I have a light but it gets to hot during the day so I just use the heat pad. It's summer so right now the humity is about 65%.

have you taken the boa to a vet since you got it? a check-up and a fecal could tell you something...
