Upset Male

I bought a Leucistic male a few months ago to house with a female I hatched 1 year ago. I started them in separate tanks next to each other. After a month and half, I moved them to a larger tank divided by clear acrylic. After about a week, the female started scaling the divider to get to the male, so I took the divider out, I figured they must be ready to meet. She seems very interested in him, but he has been VERY annoid and upset. I tried to pet him, and he bit me (he's never tried that before!). If I had to guess, I'd say he's always been alone. He has not acted at all aggressive towards the female, he just moves away from her. I guess my question is will he possibly get a little happier with time? Did I introduce them all wrong? Should I give him his own bachelor pad back, or let him tough it out a little longer (it's been 3 days)? I have another pair that hit it off from day one, so I was surprised.

I'd give it a couple of more days. If he is eating regulary then he is not too stressed about the situation. If he develops a loss of appetite, then you should def separate them. Although leopards can be kept together in communal housing, they are by no means a social animal....he should be only interested in her when he feels the urge to mate.

It could be related even to his incubating temperature!

My Mickey, a hypo carrot tail is aggressive and has been for 4 years, since I first got him from Petco. I have to approach him carefully.

I bought Harry, a snow male from Kirk's Reptiles at the latest show in White Plains weeks ago and he is totally sweet! Took on to my Freckles from Albey's and Freckles' daughter very well. No sign of aggression at all, ever!

Mickey the Grouch took on to Lucky girl, another Petco treasure find over 5 yrs ago. But he was always aggressive and killed one of his sons. He is aggressive with the females he mates with. Harry is not.

So, hey, just watch him. Try to re-introduce the female in a few days and if he is just too much of a grouch to socialize (which they OF COURSE could do, by the way) then move him into the loner's tank.
