yeah the airfare may be cheaper than the gas used to drive to the Anahiem show near you. You might want to check airfare prices can be had for as low as $250 roundtrip
Man that's a nice hypo there. Who did you get that from again?

well you are doing quite well without going to the expo. That hypo is exceptionl. It has the red head which is hard to find. IMO a true Flame hypo should have a red head as they retain their red more into adulthood. The red hypos with light colored head tend to fade out more as adults.
The original red hypos from Len kryscos stock had the red heads. Unfortunatly most people bed them out to other hypos which did not cary the red gene and just produced nice looking red babies that turn yellow as adults.
and a pic of the same snake in the sun:

Hey, how would you rate the NARBC in Anaheim? This will be my first time there, I hope it's worth the trip actually from San Diego to Anaheim!

You can never have only one snake!
I'll second the question of how the NARBC is? I'm also in San Diego, and would really like to go- it would be my first herp/reptile expo ever. What do you think? I'm pretty sure I'll go regardless, I don't mind the drive (often drive to UCLA anyways), but it would be good to know what to expect.

Bakeaway, I'm going one day, but I'd love to make it 2. I love the NARBC. I've never been to Daytona (Herp Mecca... maybe next year) so, this is pretty much the top of the tops for me. First, it was seeing all the vendors, what's for sale, etc. Then it became just being around a BUNCH of other like-minded people. Now, for me, it's those two things PLUS seeing alot of the really awesome herping friends/acquaintances( also people I talk to on this forum) I've made in the hobby. All those things just make that weekend in September a great time for me.

How was the show in San Diego? (end of June) anyone go and care to comment?

Just finalized my decision to go today and bought my plane tickets. For those of you mulling the cost of airfare, I got $97 each was on Airtran to Orlando.

God Bless Evolution.
I'll be there. Is it me or should they have a seperate expo for ball pythons and leopard geckos? Ken
A lot of Python breeders are not doing the show this year. Something about the extra permits for Reptiles of Concern is pissing them off and influencing them to not do the show. If I am not mistaken even the Bells have less tables than usual so let's hope this is colubrid mania for a change. Hope to see you there.

Give it 2 more years and Florida kings will be all the rage:
PEANUT bUTTER JELLY TIME-PEANUT bUTTER JELLY TIME-PEANUT bUTTER JELLY TIME-PEANUT bUTTER JELLY TIME................

The PB and Jelly are a very unique gene. There is a lot more going on here than a fancy name or just a new codom or reccessive trait. These are not your average morph and take a little explanation on how these genes work.
When most people see the name peanut butter or JELLY they probably don’t realize this is a something different besides a weird name. The Jelly morph is actually a different visual form of the Peanut butter. If you breed a Peanut butter to a T negative albino you will not get your expected normal hets. What you get is an intermediate form between the Jelly and the PB. Basically both forms together but visually in the first generation.
As far as I know there is no other trait in kingsnakes or other snakes that does what the PB and Jelly do. And it might well revolutionize the snake market industry
Since the Ball Pythons morph/codom rage started there has been lots of people buying into the Ball python morph. Herpers began selling their collections in 2000 and on just to be a part of this great money making deal. What happened with the balls pythons is that only the top breeders were making and real money. This is because a normal codom trait is passed from one generation to the next immediately. With the PB and Jelly it does not. It not only passes between the two genes but also creates traits that cannot be copied that easily making them a better investment animal than the Ball Pythons.
The Brooks Axanthic, lavender, whitesided and hypo genes have been around a while and are basically all old. BUT combining these "older" traits with the new Jelly trait it really changes the market as they are snowballing into many new morphs and the end is not is sight with the amount of things we can now do with these traits.
be careful as the Florida king morphs will be swallowing up the Ball Python market in a couple years.

While undoubtedly true - even though I have a fondness for yellow brooksi, some of the Axanthic that people post take my breath away - as does the phantom (I think that's what you called it, PB x NE Axanthic ??) you posted awhile back.
But then again, I really like banded Cal Kings, so ...

I decided my old sig was too big.
some real brooksi right there on table #242
