Florida Blue Garter Color Change

bkhuff1s Aug 01, 2008 12:04 PM

I've seen a few of these in the classifieds and got stuck on them pretty quick, and finally made the decision to go ahead and buy some. I have read that they go through a distint color change from babies to adults meaning the blue comes out. I was wondering if anyone has a before and after picture so I could see the change because the babies seem to be dull, when compared to the adults. Is there anyway to tell that one will be more blue than another?

Thanks,

Bryan

Bryan, are talking about a Florida Blue Stripe (sirtalis similis)or are you looking at Florida Blues (sirtalis sirtalis)? Anyway, here's some before & after pics of my female Florida blue stripe (similis) You can see as a baby no sign of any blue, then two months later you can see some decent blue color coming in, and then the last pic is taken about 7 months later. So in just under 9 months you can see what kind of change my female went through.
I don't believe you can tell when they are first born which ones will be more blue.
