Bitter sweet

boxienuts Aug 02, 2008 10:32 PM

Nothing fancy here but my normal female that was bred by my pastel finally laid her first clutch of eggs, the sweet part is this is my first ball python clutch, the bitter part is that it looks to me like only one fertile egg, the rest duds. She was 23 days out from shed, I was thinking she had another week or so, I was a little taken back when I opened her tub and she hissed at me, reminded me of Regan from the movie The Exorsist, and I thought the Devil had taken over my ball python, but then I realized she must have some eggs under the hide with her. I had been procrastinating getting the incubator ready, so I had to do a bit of scrambling, for one egg as it turns out, a bit of a disappointment I put all the eggs in the incubator for now, just in case, but maybe I should just discard the duds, and hope for a female pastel

Congrats on your first clutch

You are right, one looks good and the others are slugs, no need to incubate those, they will start molding over.

Wish you a pastel female!

Thanks,
Yeah I was pretty sure they were slugs but wanted to be sure before I feed them to my box turtles(at least they won't be completely wasted), thanks for the confirmation.
