This morning I found the craziest thing floating around in my newt's tank...
BACKGROUND INFO :D - I have 2 Chinese Firebelly newts (one male, one female) who are breeding. I've already found a little dead newt baby in the tank, and they've been laying on top of each other for the last week (they're so cute; sometimes the female is on top of the male, sometimes the male on top of the female).
So anyway...
There was a little white ball in there, no more than a 1/2 centimetre in diameter, with tiny brown lines on it. It was floating on top of the water against one side of the tank. It's a pretty solid ball, not squishy at all. I have no idea what the heck this thing is, but I freaked and thought that it might be a newt egg, so I put it in a little tub of water until I could find out.
I know that newt eggs are supposed to be attached to the plants, not just randomly floating around in the tank, so I checked for any more of these crazy balls, and found none.

If anyone has ANY idea what this thing could be, please leave me a message here
