Sick Babies....HELP!

BoaBud Aug 03, 2008 02:30 PM

I have Six 4 week old baby beardies. I have them housed in two different tanks with proper temps and lighting.

This is our first attempt at breeding our pair.

All of the animals in one tank are thriving and the three babies in the other tank have fits? They have trouble controlling their limbs and they shake slightly really weird.

We plan on a trip to the Dr. with them tomorrow, however in the mean time has anybody seen anything like this before? Any advice or comments will be much appreciated.

Regards
Buddy and Cheryl Young

Sounds like the begining of MBD. Metabolic Bone Disease. They are not getting enough 'sun' and can not metasticize calcium. It causes leg tremors, paralisis, and eventually bone deformation. Your light source in the tank may not be giving enough UVB (or is it UVA? I get the two switched) It could be either the bulb or the placement.
When it happened to us, we switched lights, gave them liquid calcium through an eye dropper,(some repitle stores have it, but your vet shoul be able to provide you with some) and they were good in a week.
