what kind of light to use with undertank heatpad

maiden_canada Sep 03, 2003 10:13 PM

if i have an undertank heating pad, should i just use a normal bulb in a normal lamp for light and a bit of heat or do i need a shaded bulb that doesnt give off much light?

It depends how much heat they give off. If they both give off the same amount of heat, it doesm't matter. If you have the undertank, you shouldn't need very much extra heat.

but some people said it stresses the snake to have a light on, is it because of the extra heat or the light hurts their eyes or something?

Bp's do not need any additional light source, they get all the light they need from your window.

It stresses the snake to have the light on all the time. I just use regular bulbs when I use heat lamps. With a UTH, you shouldn't need a very high wattage bulb for the lamp, so it won't be as bright.
